Jonny Day and Ryan Trotter are being taught to play Golf by one of the area's best, Jim Webster and his "On the Tee Golf Academy" at the Newaukum Valley Golf Course.  Jonny and Ryan are finishing 4 months worth of lessons, aimed at teaching them how to play the game of Golf…with a score of 100 or less!  Check back each week (see the BLOG below) to discover what progress (if any) they’ve made.  Lessons and some equipment are being provided courtesy of Jim Webster and the Newaukum Valley Golf Course.

If you’re looking for someone to teach you how to play, and ENJOY, the game of Golf – contact Jim Webster…or the Newaukum Valley Golf Course today.  Whether it’s an individual or group lesson – Jim can help you.

How we doin'?

JONNY DAY
(7/14/08) Finally - a breakthrough...of sorts.  Jim has been working with me on my Fairway shots.  Most of the time I am either 'topping' or 'chunking' the ball...basically it can waste a good tee shot.  Well - Jim discovered two things: I was not giving him "all that I have" when I swing at the ball (okay - he said, "start hitting like a man") - AND - I need to Relax!  I'm a lot like Happy Gilmore - I need to be distracted (make some noise - talk to me) while taking a shot.  Imagine that - I like to talk!  More work this week (as time allows)...with the August 23rd tourney date looming.

RYAN TROTTER
(7/21/2008) I don't know if I've told you ('cause I've told a lot of people!) but I had my first birdie this past Saturday!!  Even though my tee shot on the Par 4 East hole #1 went onto the fairway to my right, on my second shot I was able to take my pitching wedge and get it on the green (the correct one) a few feet from the cup and then sink the birdie putt.  Wow!  What a feeling.  If you're wondering what kind of scores I've been getting, I'll just tell you I'm usually in the low 50's for 9, so I definitely need some work!  I'll be sure to update you next week on my continued progress.

Hello everyone.

Just a quick note on the progress the boys are making. Ryan Trotter is working hard to get his game on track and it's starting to pay off. The few adjustments we made to his swing at our last lesson seemed to really make a difference. I'm starting to see more smiles from him and his confidence level is starting to rise. Jonny Day really surprised me when he came back from vacation. His swing looked great. He must have practiced a little cause he had a nice sun tan when he returned. The set up was flawless, the tempo was good and the slacks he was wearing, NICE. He looked really sharp. Still a little tense when he thinks too much over the ball, however that will go away with more practice and playing time. We have one more month remaining with much more work to do. However I could not be more proud of them. Until next time, see you on the green

Jim
